Family Photo Session In Mecca, Ohio
There's a quiet kind of beauty in a small town. A kind of comfort that just makes you feel...at home. This sweet family photo session has me all in my feels and makes me feel nostalgic. (if that's the right way to describe it.) I think it's the hometown photoshoot, right smack in our "circle" and then down at the our causeway of a hometown family, with some "hometown ice cream".
Tami signed up to do an ice cream mini session with me, but asked if they could take their photos in their truck. Tami and Dave have been clients with me for years and years. But I've known them even longer, as we went to the same school, in the same small town. If you've never been to Mecca, Ohio,, a small map dot in northeast Ohio- you probably don't even know where it is. We don't have a traffic light in this town. But, what we do have is a community that I am honestly so proud to come from and to raise my kids in. So, when she took the last session slot I was excited to work with them (and Dave's truck). We started at a Mecca staple, Cones and Coneys right on the circle. (btw my husband who is not a "Meccanite" argues with me that it is a square....it's not. It's our circle.)
My husband is what he likes to call a "Mecca Implant." He's always been amazed by how many kids my kids play sports with whose parents I played sports with and whose same grandparents were on the sidelines back then. When you come to an event it's truly like nothing has changed. Maybe that is why I love it. This world is constantly changing, we have so many responsibilities and worries in this life but it brings you back to the simple comfort of being a kid and the familiarities with it.
We may choose to homeschool for multiple reasons, but it's not because we don't love the school district and that it's not something that runs deep through a few generations. Although my kids get their education at home, I still want Maplewood to be their "place." Something is to be said about a place that has generations choosing to remain and raise their kids because it's truly home.
